【現代文化学部】授業紹介「Communication Workshop II」（Josh Norman 准教授）
In this class, students listen to authentic English using a DVD to see how both Japanese foreign exchange students and Americans their age maneuver through everyday situations in the course of daily life in America.
Students have several opportunities to put their English into action with the speaking activities in the textbook that mirror the visual content in each of the units. The focus of this class is for students to be able to better use English as a means of communication while also learning about differences between Japanese and American culture.
Thus, one of the major goals of this class is for students to become able to explain key differences between Japanese and U.S. culture using simple English words and expressions.
この授業では、日本人留学生と同年代のアメリカ人とが、アメリカでの日常生活のなかで日々起こることに対しどのように行動しているのか、DVDを使って本格的な英語を聞きながら見ていきます。
学生は各ユニットの映像内容を反映したスピーキング練習を教科書を用いて行い、自身の英語を実践する機会を与えられます。日本とアメリカの文化のちがいを学びながら、コミュニケーション手段としての英語を上手に使いこなせるようになることが、この授業の目的です。
そのためこの授業では、日米文化の主なちがいを簡単な英単語や英語表現を使って説明できるようになることを、大きな目標のひとつとしています。
